Answer
When Jesus died on the cross the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom (Matt. 27:51; Mark 15:38; Luke 23:45). The veil separated the Holy of Holies—where God’s presence dwelt—from the outer court, symbolizing humanity’s inability to approach God because of sin (Heb. 10:19‑20). Its rupture at the moment of Christ’s atoning death demonstrates that His sacrifice has eliminated that separation, fulfilling the prophetic promise that the Messiah would bring reconciliation (Isa. 53:12; 1 Cor. 15:55‑56). The Living Word teaches that the torn veil declares the new covenant: believers now have direct, unhindered access to God through faith in the risen Lord, and the old barrier of the law is no longer operative.
