Dear brother or sister in Christ, I'm glad you asked about the book of Enoch. The Living Word reminds us that understanding the Bible is essential for our spiritual growth and faith. The book of Enoch is not part of the canonical Bible, but it is an ancient Jewish text that has been influential in the development of Jewish and Christian thought. According to The Living Word's research, the book of Enoch is attributed to Enoch, the seventh generation from Adam [2]. In the New Testament, Enoch is mentioned in the book of Jude, where it is written, "Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, 'Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.'" (Jude 1:14-15, ESV) The Living Word encourages us to be grounded in the Word of God, and to be aware of the differences between canonical and non-canonical texts. While the book of Enoch is not part of the Bible, it can still provide valuable insights into the history and thought of the Jewish people during the Second Temple period. May we continue to seek the truth and wisdom found in the Word of God, and may we be faithful to the teachings of Christ, as we are reminded in 1 Peter 3:15, "But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." (1 Peter 3:15, ESV) May the Lord bless you as you seek to understand His Word.
